can also show the reasons behind that decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p6 wp-block-paragraph\">Examples include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>only needing the product occasionally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the product not fitting into everyday routines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>inconvenience or too much effort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>disappointing performance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>wear, breakage or failure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>replacement by another product<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>changed needs or circumstances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>selling, giving away or losing the product<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">These reasons help explain <em>why<\/em> usage changed instead of reducing the story to a single percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p5 wp-block-paragraph\">People can select more than one reason, so percentages for individual reasons may add up to more than 100%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How much data is behind a result?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Percentages can look precise even when they are based on very few people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">UsedLater? therefore always considers the number of responses behind the figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>0\u20134 responses \u2014 Very limited data<\/strong><br>There is not enough information yet to draw meaningful conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5\u201319 responses \u2014 Limited data<\/strong><br>Early patterns may be visible, but results can still change substantially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>20\u201399 responses \u2014 Growing data<\/strong><br>The response base is becoming more informative and individual responses have less influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>100+ responses \u2014 Large response base<\/strong><br>The result is based on a comparatively large number of owner experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Our principle is simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p7 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We would rather show \u201cNot enough data yet\u201d than make weak data look certain.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How rankings work<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Some UsedLater? pages highlight products with characteristics such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lowest regret \u00b7 Highest would buy again \u00b7 Highest still using<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Products with very few responses can easily produce extreme percentages. One positive response could create a 100% score even though almost nothing is known about the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">For that reason, quality-based rankings prioritize products with <strong>at least 10 responses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p5 wp-block-paragraph\">Products with fewer responses can still appear on UsedLater?, but small samples should not automatically outrank products supported by substantially more owner experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who provides the data?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Unless explicitly stated otherwise, responses on UsedLater? are <strong>self-reported owner experiences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">They are not laboratory measurements and we do not claim that every response independently proves ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Account and submission rules are used to reduce duplicate participation and help keep the dataset useful, but they cannot make self-reported information perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p5 wp-block-paragraph\">Where stronger forms of verification are introduced in the future, they will be clearly identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What UsedLater? data does \u2014 and does not \u2014 tell you<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">UsedLater? can help identify patterns in what owners report over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">It can tell you things such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do owners regret buying it?<\/strong><strong>\u2028<\/strong><strong>Would they buy it again?<\/strong><strong>\u2028<\/strong><strong>Are they still using it?<\/strong><strong>\u2028<\/strong><strong>Has their usage declined \u2014 and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p6 wp-block-paragraph\">But UsedLater? data should <strong>not<\/strong> be interpreted as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a scientifically representative survey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a laboratory test<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a professional product review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>proof of product quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a guarantee that you will have the same experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Different buyers have different needs, expectations and circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p5 wp-block-paragraph\">UsedLater? should therefore be one input into a purchasing decision \u2014 not the only one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Commercial independence<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Advertising, affiliate relationships or commercial partnerships must <strong>never change the owner statistics or ranking calculations shown on UsedLater?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">If commercial relationships exist, they should be clearly identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p5 wp-block-paragraph\">The numbers should mean the same thing regardless of whether UsedLater? earns money from a product or brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why we do it this way<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Traditional product reviews are very good at answering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat is this product like?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">UsedLater? is designed to answer another question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p4 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat happened after people bought it?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Because sometimes the most useful review is not written on day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p5 wp-block-paragraph\">It is written months or years later.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Methodology What the numbers on UsedLater? mean Most reviews are written shortly after a purchase, when a product is still new.
